There has been a continuous development of the threadbar product into the various post tensioning applications inherent in glued, segmental bridge construction. Such techniques using various methods of cantilevering and incremental launching rely on the post tensioning bars for the longitudinal and transverse connection of segments both in the temporary and permanent sense.
The ease of installing and stressing threadbar lends itself to applying a triaxial stress field to the concrete. This, as a means of crack control makes threadbar a prime candidate for marine applications.
