Introduction
Tunnelling by it’s very nature requires that all elements involved in the process, whether by

design, construction or the supply of materials, be fully responsive to ever changing requirements. ‘ROMTECH’s investment in people and modern techniques provides the flexibility in approach that keeps ‘ROMTECH’ as one of the most cost effective and versatile fabricators and suppliers.

Quality and service are the prime considerations in ROMTECH’s management policy as demonstrated by our achievement of BS EN ISO 9001.‘ROMTECH’ manufactures an extensive range of tunnelling products that include lattice girders, bespoke mesh, spiles and rock bolts for sprayed concrete applications and prefabricated segment cages for precast elements.

ENGINEERING In addition to the technical assistance provided by our Engineering team based in Sheffield. Our design office is equipped with up to date computer technology providing technical proposals and fabrication drawings for our manufacturing facilities.  All CAD stations have networked e-mail and printing facilities for time saving distribution of drawings and information. MATERIALS TEST LABORATORY Own test laboratory dedicated to the testing of steel reinforcement and related products. The breadth and depth of the testing facility is unique within the UK reinforcement industry with tensile testing equipment from 5KN to 1800KN, axial fatigue testing equipment along with a range of chemical analysis and metallurgical investigation techniques.

To compliment the extensive facilities the laboratory is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals including materials, chemistry, engineering, welding, etc.  The laboratory operates to high standards complying with the internationally recognised competence standards, ISO17025. QUALITY CONTROL Comprehensive Quality Management Systems are used to ensure complete compliance with the specification as well as ensuring the high level of consistency required for subsequent on site assembly. The Quality Management Systems address all the key areas of the process from the approval of the raw materials and their suppliers through to the final inspection activity. The systems ensure that the correct materials are used, that they are processed correctly by fully trained personnel and that each product supplied meets the customers requirements. Where appropriate personnel are approved to the required national standards, for example all welders are independently approved to the requirements of BS7123.

The overall Quality Management System is certified to BS EN ISO 9001 by the independent accreditation body specialising in reinforcement manufacture, UK CARES. Products manufactured outside the UK are subject to the same high level of quality management and will be in accordance with the internationally recognised standards of that country.
