Corrosion Protection

DCP system consists of:

  • Bar and couplers where necessary
  • Internal spacers fixed to the bar to centralize it in the HDPE sheathing
  • Inner cement grout
  • HDPE or PVC corrugated sheathing
  • End caps for grout feeding and air venting
  • External spacers fixed to the external sheathing to ensure a minimum of 10mm grout cover
  • External grout and vent tubes as required depending on ground conditions and bar inclination)
  • External cement grout

Storage instructions

1. Care should be taken at all times to ensure that the units are not damaged either by bending or mishandling
2. Storage of the nails and components should be in a properly covered and protected area
3. The manufactured components should be stored horizontally at all times
4. Finished units should never be stacked, but should be properly supported on timber racks to ensure they do not deflect

Handling and site transport

1. Care should be taken when transporting the nails to the fabrication yard and from the yard to the borehole. The nails should be adequately supported (bracing or support at a maximum distance of 1.5 - 3.0m depending on diameter of bar) so as not to damage the pre-grouting.
2. To avoid bending the bar by lifting it, check carefully and if necessary, reduce distance of support.
3. During transport, the nails should be laid flat on suitable transport and with supports between the layers of nails. Care should be taken not to knock the nails so as to avoid the pre-grouting cracking.
4. The nails can be lifted and transported by crane with a brace of lifting device on the air-sided end of the bar (ring nut etc.). Take care that by lifting the bar does not bend and the end does not slip on the ground.
